This page is to support the KEC Skills Advisers.
Your Role as a KEC Skills Advisor:
- Your role as an advisor can be a big or as little as you like. We ask that you present the SkillsUSA opportunities to your students and portray a positive attitude towards the program. Please pass along any information that we have for the students who choose to participate and any conference, community service event, training or competitions.
- Some advisors choose to coach students that are attending competitions. This is not a requirement! Coaching is a volunteer position and we understand that not all advisors have the time to commit to coaching students outside of the classroom. Your classes and curriculum come first. If you have students that want to do competitions but you cannot commit to coaching then we will find a business professional to assist in their coaching.
- Even if you do not coach student for competitions you still have access to the national website and the information given for advisors.
- You may apply to attend the Fall LEAD Conference.
As a KEC Skills Advisor you have access to the national organization's information for creating and teaching programs with the Ethics at Work curriculum, leadership and even soft skills and professional training programs. You can access these through the national website at skillsusa.org. Click on the "Membership & Resources" on the top bar. Then click on "Advisors" in the drop down menu. From there you can log into your personal account.
